Hey everyone! This is a late post but I thought it would be fun to do a day in the life blog but as it’s happening. Currently I’m on the coach on my way to London for a psychology conference with my psych class. We’re going to be heading from people such as Loftus, who you may have heard of it you do a level psychology. ( she did a studies on memory)
Todays been hectic already, waking up at 5am was so hard but I’m so excited to hear from an actual psychologist and do a q and a session with them aswell, I’ll be updating this throughout the day with some fun things that happen 🙂

So we finally arrived and we got to hear from 4 different speakers, here are some key take aways
- Use cues when revising and don’t try to memorise big Chunks of information
- Active recall where you write what you can remember down on a piece of paper is the way to go because often we think of learning as trying to get the info in,rather than trying to get it out 😅
Then we got to hear from Elizabeth Loftus a well known psychologist and here are some more key take aways
- Memory is a complex thing, and Loftus loves to look how how people remember things and the accuracy of memory
- You can easily implant a memory that didn’t even exist into someone’s mind making them think they had acc experienced it. She showed this through a ‘lost in the mall experiment’ where she made participants believe they had been lost some point in their childhood in a mall, when in reality it had never happened.
- Things like suggestive questions and choice of vocabulary can also influence memory for example if you asked someone how fast a car was going until it smashed, collided, hit another car, this would influence memory, and smashed would lead to a higher speed estimate
- In severe cases people also have been falsely convicted due to faulty memory for example a student was once sexually assaulted and had identified and imprisoned the wrong man, years later it was discovered it wasn’t him. But she states that after the conviction she began seeing his face during the assault even though it was another man. But more recently she now states she no longer sees a face post discovering the truth.

Honestly hearing from Loftus was super fun and interesting and I’d love attend an event like this again 🙂
We are now wondering around London for some site seeing during our one hour lunch break and here is a pic of me next to the London eye 🙂

And finally we are back on the coach on our way home…. When suddenly the tyre bursted 😭 so now we are stranded on the motorway 🛣.
We decided to make it fun by handing out some soup that my friends mom made to keep us warm and it honestly tasted SO GOOOOD😍

And finally we are back home at 8pm😅 today was such a hectic and fun day that I’ll always remember, and this is to be the first post of the psychology series, can’t wait to write more in depth on psychology 🙂 thank you for reading !
