Dear future 18 yr old me – Sairah
Hey, it’s past you, weird start I know, perhaps you’ve even forgotten about this letter to yourself. But I believe that it will serve some purpose to my future self. Well first off, I don’t know how hectic and stressful life will be in two years time, but I can only imagine the pressure, finishing a levels and worrying about being accepted into university. Maybe I won’t even know what uni I want to go to. Do I even want to go to uni at all in two years time? Well whatever path you’re considering or debating, don’t stress yourself so much, I know you like things going to plan, but that’s not always the case. You’re now practically an adult and are ready to make important life choices. But whatever you decide, trust me I know it will be okay in the end, your life is still long and you’re got so much more ahead of you. Enjoy your youth while you can, but keep working hard, never jeopardise your own success just for someone else . And I hope that you aren’t like how I am now, I hope you are more confident and strong headed and actually truly believe in yourself. You got this. And don’t forget that life is too short to overthink things, take every opportunity and use it as a chance for self growth and to flourish in something new. Don’t be afraid to take risks, life shouldn’t be like a straight path from A to be B, it should be a journey with hills and bumpy roads and roundabouts, but you’ll reach your goal in the end. So whatever or whoever you are now, whatever your new hobbies, likes or dislikes may be. I hope you remember me, the younger you, and remember the hope and dreams I know we can accomplish. You will be at peace one day, just never give up. You’re doing well, just keep going, I promise it will get easier.
To My Future 18yr old self – Vivian
Hey so when you look back at this I know it must be one of those days when you’re down, so listen up!! Life is hard and it always will be, there’s no point stressing over anything because it only exhausts you and doesn’t really have a benefit at all. I know that you’re probably really stressed out and your anxiety has kicked in because of how organised you are and when things don’t occur like you wrote down in a plan, then you’ll feel totally worthless. Well, guess what, suck it up!! Life isn’t about things being mapped out and it would happen accordingly, life is spontaneous and unexpected, it will throw good and bad things at you and you need to learn to withstand the pressure because no one else can do it for you. Remember to take care of yourself and give yourself enough breaks so you can recharge because you tend to work so hard that you end up crashing. Take about half a day a week for yourself ok? because you need to love yourself!! There will be about 6 months before you leave sixth form so you better study hard every day and not take it seriously because A-Levels are tough. If you have forgotten, don’t forget to apply to universities!! I know you are incredibly indecisive but I know that you want to get out of Birmingham and into London as soon as possible and right now I know you would love to go to a music school, maybe a conservatoire? Or you may change your mind and take up law? Whatever you choose, I know you can achieve anything you put your mind to. Now, you started sixth form in a completely new school and within the past year and a half you must’ve had great times and bad times because no matter where I am, people seem to target you, but I know how hard you’ve worked these past years and I know your A-Level results would be good enough for you! So remember no matter what hardships you face, face them head on!! You will never bow down to anyone and you will always stand tall!! Good Luck, I love you!
