Heyyyyy, it’s that time of the week again!! This is part 2 of my series!! How exciting!!
So English A-Level is pretty fun because we get to explore a lot of different societal views throughout years and how literature and the arts were influenced by it. I think I learn a lot from it and literature is a form of art which I love because I’m a very creative and artsy person.
Through English we talk about feminism, marxism, racism etc. and we explore the views of people back then and see how it’s changed. I find it so interesting how there’s so much we don’t know when we don’t analyse the meanings behind words.
So on a daily basis, I need to read books!! Then I would need to annotate and explore ideas from the books I’m studying right now – Othello by William Shakespeare so far and it’s a play that addresses racism from such a long time ago which shows how long this issue has been around for and how till this day it still has not been solved!!
With this course I think it really opens our eyes because there are so many issues from such a long time ago and still these issues haven’t been resolved. We often get into a lot of debates about sexualising women and how most of the successful population in arts are still white men who are in positions of power and authority and we need to change that!
I absolutely love studying English because now there is at least some diversity and we need to make the government change the English curriculum where we can study more diverse authors and more controversial topics!
- Spend at least an hour every day revising over the topic because it’s a lot of information really fast.
- Study the structure of an A-Level Essay
- Try to remember quotes using Quizlet!!
Hope you enjoyed that!
Lots of love,
